If you’re nearing the end of your Invisalign treatment, chances are you’ve been giving a little thought to what happens next. Here’s what to expect once your treatment is complete!
Teeth Whitening
Many Invisalign patients choose to whiten their teeth after Invisalign treatment, to complete the look and highlight their straight new smiles!

Retainers
After your Invisalign treatment is complete, the maintenance portion of your orthodontic treatment will begin. This primarily means one thing: a retainer.
After any type of orthodontic treatment, the teeth will not be as firmly set in the surrounding tissues as they once were, as a result of the straightening process. To keep them from shifting back out of position over time, you will have to wear a retainer.
At first, you will probably have to wear your retainer full time, to give your teeth an opportunity to settle into their new positions. Over time, you will likely be able to downgrade to part-time retainer wear. This may include wearing them only on certain days in a week, or just at night.
Regular Dental Checkups
You’ll have to continue visiting your dentist regularly after Invisalign treatment is complete for cleanings and checkups, just like you always have. Of course, you’ll no longer have to attend the extra Invisalign-specific checkup appointments, so while we’ll still be seeing you regularly, it won’t be as frequent!
